The School of Architectural Engineering(SAE) was formerly known as the Department of Architectural Engineering. In 2002, Engineering Budgeting and other majors were established. In March 2008, a school was established. Now it has two Tier-One disciplines of Civil Engineering and Management Science and Engineering, and 5 majors — Civil Engineering, Built Environment and Energy Application Engineering, Drainage Science and Engineering, Engineering Costing and Engineering Management. In the past ten years, SAE has turned out more than 4000 graduates and currently it has 1387 students on campus, 33 full-time faculty, including 6 professors and 8 associate professors (including senior engineers). 96.97% of the teachers have the title of engineer or above. Management Science and Engineering is a Guangdong Province Characteristic Key Discipline, Engineering Management a Guangdong Provinc first-class undergraduate major, Civil Engineering a Guangdong Province Characteristic Major,,Engineering Costing, Built Environment and Energy Application Engineering are GZIST Characteristic Majors. SAE signed an agreement on joint training of graduate students with China Three Gorges University, and set up the International Cooperation Joint BIM Center with Hong Kong Internet Cube Co., Ltd. (isBIM).
SAE has 19 laboratories, covering an area of more than 2,300 square meters. The number of equipment reaches 1,586, and its total asset reaches 10.846 million yuan with more than 20 school-enterprise cooperation units and 17 studios, as well as three research institutions including Building Industrialization Research Institute and Building Energy Conservation Research Institute.
SAE attaches great importance to the improvement of teaching quality. Starting from the designation of relevant teaching rules and regulations, SAE has established and improved a series of teaching systems, regulations and measures to ensure teaching quality. In addition, it has also implemented the teaching security system and teaching evaluation system, ensuring the smooth progress for teaching and assessment on teaching quality.
SAE has continuously deepened teaching research and teaching reform which has greatly improved students’ professional practice ability. It has established cooperative relations with more than 20 enterprises, such as Guangdong Hualian Construction Investment Management Co., Ltd., Guangdong Feiteng Engineering Cost Consulting Co., Ltd., and Huayang International Engineering Company, developing a school-enterprise collaborative education base based on practical projects.
The School of Architectural Engineering not only attaches great importance to talent development by actively carrying out various education projects, but also highlights the all-round development of students, with the aim to cultivating high-quality applied talents.
