The 2022 (15th) China College Students Computer Design Competition, co-sponsored by the Teaching Steering Committee for Computer Majors of Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, drew to a successful close. Students of our university won 1 second prize and 3 third prizes.
Students Cheng Weilin and Ma Danyan from the School of Computer Science and Engineering won the second prize under the instruction of teachers Pan Weihua and He Weiying; the student team Zhu Haowen, Liang Zhilong, and Qin Peicong won the third prize. Zheng Zepeng and Kong Mingming from the School of Art and Design instructed by teacher Li Qianyu won the third prize; Chen Jiechun’s work instructed by Chen Yao won the third prize.
The China College Student Computer Design Competition is the most influential, large-scale and high-level competition in the field of undergraduate computer design. It is an event in the National College Student Competition Ranking List, which is also recognized as one of the landmark achievements of our university. Since the competition started in 2008, it has been co-hosted by related Teaching Steering Committee for Computer Majors of the Ministry of Education.
The competition aims to cultivate innovative, inter-disciplinary and application-oriented talents with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique, beauty and labor by promoting teaching, learning and competition mutually. Among 100,000 entries from over 800 colleges and universities, 6518 works were recommended and selected through provincial competition to the national final.
Academic competition is an important means to cultivate students’ innovation and entrepreneurial ability. With great emphasis on this competition, the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship led the preparation and participation of the competition with assistance from other schools such as the School of Computer Science and Engineering, the School of Art and Design, and the School of Intelligent Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering.
Since the launch of the inter-school competition in January this year, teachers and students have been widely mobilized to participate in the competition. A total of 35 works from 83 students took part in the competition, among which 1 work was awarded first prize in the Guangdong Provincial Competition, 4 second prizes and 5 third prizes. Teachers and students worked hard to overcome various difficulties, made full use of the holidays to prepare for the competition, and finally achieved good results.
