On September 10, a tea party for faculty and students was held in Room 815 of the Administration Building, celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival and Teachers’ Day. President Hu Shejun, Vice President Xiao Hai, heads of relevant departments and 42 student representatives attended it, tasting moon cakes and exchanging best wishes.
Vice President Xiao Hai extended holiday greetings and good wishes to both faculty and students. He said that this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the same day as Teachers' Day, which has an unusual significance for us. He encouraged students to actively reflect the problems and difficulties in their study and life, and to build a book-loving campus.
The students spoke enthusiastically, introducing their study and campus life, praising the university new hardware construction and the teaching ability and dedication of their teachers, as well as putting forward candid opinions and suggestions for the university services and security. They also expressed their views from different perspectives, showing the good quality and spirit of contemporary college students. The leaders and teachers responded to the problems put forward by the students one by one.
President Hu encouraged the students to cherish the hard-won opportunity to receive undergraduate education in Guangzhou, where they can work hard to learn professional knowledge. He also advised students to have a plan for college and make full use of our university good resources for an all-round development in morality, intellect, physique, aesthetics and labor so as to become builders and successors of socialism.
Delicious moon cakes , fruits and a rich festive atmosphere made the students feel the care and warmth of our university.
Meanwhile, the schools also organized Mid-Autumn Festival and Teachers’ Day celebrations for students in different forms, who expressed their gratitude to their schools and university and their determination to study hard for the upgrading of their own qualities and the realization of their value for the society and country.
